This may sound silly suggestion to even post on Windows Reference but will help avoid some annoyance with Windows Vista and\u00a0Windows\u00a07<\/span>. The host file is the one where one enters\u00a0hostname<\/span>\u00a0and IP Address pair manually as against being served by a Name server (ex: DNS). As always the \u201chost\u201d file is under C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\ or %systemroot%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\ and hence cannot be edited by normal users.<\/p>\n To edit the host file,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Click Start \u2013 search for \u201cNotepad<\/span><\/strong>\u201c, right-click and select \u201cRun as Administrator<\/strong>\u201c.
