The older white (plastic) AppleTV remotes are missing the dedicated play\/pause button and will not work.<\/li>\n<li>Disable the\u00a0<em>&#8216;remote control infrared receiver&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0option through System Preferences &#8211;&gt; Security &#8211;&gt; General. (Mac only)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>If you&#8217;re having trouble getting the AppleTV into DFU mode try the steps below once you&#8217;re at the &#8216;Waiting for DFU&#8217; step.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Disconnect AppleTV from USB.<\/li>\n<li>Reconnect, and wait for the rapid flashing light.<\/li>\n<li>(Optional) If you&#8217;re not seeing a rapid flashing light, hold down the menu and down arrow buttons for about 7 seconds (or until you see the rapid flashing light).<\/li>\n<li>Hold the menu and play\/pause buttons together for 7 seconds (count slowly &#8211; one thousand 1, one thousand 2, one thousand 3, etc&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>If all else fails&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Try the alternate process to get into DFU mode described\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iclarified.com\/entry\/index.php?enid=12379\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Try a different USB cable &#8211; a good, low cost cable can be found\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fireco.re\/BdPk\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>iTunes restore errors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re seeing errors during the iTunes restore process please see the thread\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forum.firecore.com\/topic\/4328\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mac specific issues<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some users have reported issues when Filevault or Clean My Mac are in use.
