Install XBMC 12.0 Beta Pre-Release AKA Frodo

Alot of you have been requested and wanted to know how to install pre-release and how to test it out, remember this is a beta package and you will have problems ( Yes ) there is no Full Support on fixing little problems but you can be test it and indicate to xbmc.org forums or Xbmchub.com forums to what problems your experiencing.  Remember this is again for heavyhearted people that wants to test New XBMC out…

Open up your terminal/ssh application and enter the following command to log in to your ATV2. Note, you need to replace “YOUR.ATV2.IP.ADDRESS” with the IP address of the Apple TV: ssh root@YOUR.ATV2.IP.ADDRESS

EXAMPLE: ssh root@192.168.1.5

You will be asked for a password: default password is alpine
Continue to enter the following commands:

echo “deb http://mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/pre-release/atv2 ./” > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list
apt-get update
apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2
reboot

And you’re done! You should now be running XBMC v12 (Frodo) Beta for Apple TV 2. See here to verify your XBMC version.

    I am running into the following error:

    Apple-TV:~ root# apt-get update
    E: Type ‘.deb’ is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list
    Apple-TV:~ root#
