Change SSH Password for Apple TV 2 with nito Installer

You wouldn’t leave your wireless internet connection password to the default. so why leave your Apple TV 2 open to security hazards? The default password on any jailbroken Apple device is always “alpine” (without quotations) and hackers know that. Now there have not been any reports of people’s network security being put at risk because of their Apple TV, but Changing your Apple TV 2 SSH Password is never a bad idea.

Requirements

1: Launch the “nito Installer.app” software application on your Mac computer.

2: Select your desired Apple TV 2 device from the “Choose Apple TV” drop-down menu.

3: Verify that your device IP Address is specified in the lower left corner of the application window.

4: Click on the “Advanced” menu at the top of your screen and click on the “Change SSH Password…” option.

5: Enter your desired new SSH Password when prompted then press the “OK” button. Be sure to remember what it is as you won’t be able to get back into your device without factory resetting it if you forget.

6: That’s it, you’re down. You can now Quit the nito Installer application for Apple TV 2.

Congratulations! You’ve now secured your Apple TV 2 very well simply by changing your SSH Password to something less obvious.
